2009 – NEW POLAR PHD SERENGETI’S LENSES, PRODUCED BY INTERCAST RECOGNISED BY SILMO D’OR AWARD IN THE LENS CATEGORY

During the 16th Edition of the Silmo d’Or Awards, the new Serengeti^® Polar PhD^™ lens has distinguished itself by winning this important award thanks to the synergy with Intercast.

Launched in March, the Serengeti^® Polar PhD^™ lens, winner of a Silmo d’Or in the ‘Lens’ category, is a new polarized, photochromic lens created in an exclusive partnership between Intercast Europe and Serengeti Eyewear.

This state-of-the-art lens is the result of the latest technological advances created for photochromic, polarized lenses. The polarizing layer of the Serengeti^® Polar PhD^™ lens is engineered directly onto the back surface of the lens utilizing Intercast’s Advanced Polarized Surface Technology^™, thereby avoiding the disadvantages of conventional film-based polarized lens construction.

The photochromic technology is incorporated into the Serengeti^® Polar PhD^™ lens. This means that the lens automatically lightens and darkens according to changing light conditions. The photochromic properties are engineered as part of the lens, not as a coating, providing the highest level of photochromic performance throughout the life of the lens. The lens combines Serengeti’s state-of-the-art Spectral Control^®, Intercast’s Advanced Polarized Surface Technology^™, and the attributes of Trivex^® material, such as lightness and durability, combined with superior optical quality.
